This month´s feature book is GULLIVER´S TRAVELS by Jonathon Swift. This book is a classic in English Literature. Swift is famous for his potilical and social satire in his writings, commenting on the culture of his time.

OK, we may not have any dishes as renowned as paella, pizza, stroganoff,… but that´s not to say that fish and chips is the only thing we have to offer. One thing we do very well are desserts. Apple pie, sticky toffee pudding, bread and butter pudding to name but a few.

Tongue Twisters are short rhymes or a collection of words that are hard to articulate. There are many different kinds of tongue twisters. Some are short and friends will often say to you, ‘says these words as many times as you can as fast as you can’. This often results in you saying something silly much to your friends’ amusement. The most famous examples of this are:
‘Red lorry, yellow lorry’

Christmas Stockings
My favourite Christmas tradition is that of the Christmas stocking. On Christmas Eve before you go to bed you hang a Christmas stocking either by the fireplace or by the end of your bed and when you wake in the morning you find it filled with presents from Father Christmas or Santa Claus. In Victorian times a well behaved child would receive fruit, nuts and coins and sometimes small gifts in their stockings whilst naughty children would receive only a lump of coal. Today,...
Christmas time is almost here and in Valencia we´re still working on our suntans. For our EFL teaching staff, this weather is fantastic since most of us are from ¨cold¨ countries and are used to having snow at this time of year (except for our Australian teachers who are more likely to be seen with a surfboard in December). Many of our teachers will be going home for Christmas this year though, so it won´t be long before we´re dreaming of Valencia´s warm sunny Christmas skies....
